Laptop Video Card Question?
I try to game on my notebook and it used to work fine but now if I try playing anything graphically intense it locks up the system and I have to restart it. I used to play GTA IV and Fallout 3 on it and it used to work fine. I've tried updating the drivers and performing other system maintenance like defrag and malware scans. This happens for all high graphics games but web games and such still work great. No problem with video either. I've had my notebook for less than a year. Any suggestions?
My laptop already has the maximum amount of RAM at 3gb (32-bit Vista) and the card is an ATi HD3200. Like I said, I've only had this computer for less than a year.
also, I've tried hooking up one of those external fans, it's like a laptop pad, but it doesn't help.

A couple key things to check include disk fragmentation, free RAM, and free HDD space (for virtual memory).
If you have installed any virus scanners you may want to turn them off during when playing the game. They sometime can bog down game loading.

Laptops weren;t really designed for gaming and you can't really just go to a store and buy a high end graphics card for a laptop either. If you're going to play anything with intense graphics I'd get a desktop or an XBOX 360. If you really wanna use that laptop, the best thing I can recommend is to upgrade the RAM on it to its maximum, usually about 4 GB

your graphic card is overheating, it happens to all graphic cards as they get older, they slowly run hotter and hotter, my 9800 gt used to run 45 degrees idle now it runs 51. The only reason i can think of why is because of the thermal paste wearing off as it gets older. just try turning your fans higher manually by downloading riva tuner.
