The term Pit Bull describes 3 breeds here in the US.

    American Staffordshire Terrier

    Staffordshire Bull Terrier

    American Pit Bull Terrier

I would consider the SBT a smaller dog, but certainly not on a toy dog scale. 14-16 inches and 28-38lbs

    AKC Standard: http://www.akc.org/breeds/staffordshire_bull_terri...

The AmStaff is supposed to be a small to medium sized dog: 17-19".

    AKC Standard: http://www.akc.org/breeds/american_staffordshire_t...

The APBT should be small-medium, but badly bred ones tend to get more "large" sized than medium.

Added: "I Fight", formerly ooki, As i've told you before, you are incorrect. The breed name you are referring to is American Pit Bull Terrier. So right there, your 'view' is shot to hell. Look right here: http://www.napbta.com/ See, Pit Bull is two words.

The only argument you could even make as there being only one "pit bull" breed is to state that capital letters refer to one breed only and small letters refer to the group.

But by sitting here and yelling about "pitbulls", you are simply showing your ignorance and that your "study" of them is incomplete. It's two words. I'll let you choose whether or not to capitalize them.

Added: You also may want to "study" the UKC site. They are pretty clear that it's American PIT BULL Terrier. Again, "pit bull" is two words. http://www.ukcdogs.com/WebSite.nsf/Breeds/American... Even in the breed standard they use APBT, not "pitbull" or "Pit Bull". That should tell you something. Unless, of course, the UKC and the National American Pit Bull Terrier Association are wrong. . .

They are 18-22 inches and weight 22 -110 pounds

in fact the original APBT's were between 20 - 40 pounds (9-18 kg.) and were bred small for their main purpose, fighting, These dogs are varying from small to extra large. A very common misconception is that APBT's are muscle viscous hulks that weigh in around 85 pounds and this is generally not the majority, Most of the APBT's that Are that large have been crossed with another breeds.

Dogs concidered to be in the pitbull group are considered to be of medium size

18-22 in height and 22-110 in weight

no actually its a medium size breed. lots of ppl consider it as a small or big breed. when its a pup, many ppl consider it as a small dog. when it gets older ppl consider it as a big dog cuz of its strength and looks. well, WRONG!! its a medium size breed in any size shape or look cuz its a pitbull.

they range from small-medium, i guess.

some do come in the small dog category and some come in the somewhat medium sized, it depends on the size of the parents and if the pup/dog is the runt.
