How much 'real' mythology and superstition does Mike Mignola put into Hellboy comics?
I know some of the superstitions he's used are based on local beliefs, but how much of it is based on local mythologies so I can read further into the mythologies some of the stories are based on?
FYI- I read The Romance of the Three Kingdoms out of curiosity after playing Dynasty Warriors ^_^ . I like to know the inspirations of things people write/create

A lot, but a ton of the major framework mythology is actually taken from H.P. Lovecraft's fiction.
