My mouse won't charge because the copper contact is corroded - any ideas?

I have a Logitech MX Revolution cordless computer mouse, and its charging contacts have corroded to the point where it is very difficult to make the mouse charge. I need to remove that corrosion. I'm familiar with the lemon wedge and salt trick for copper pots, but that's not really an option here: we're talking about 4 copper plates each only about a half-centimeter across, connected to electrical parts that wouldn't agree very well with a bath in lemon juice. Are there any household cleaners or polishes that I could use in this predicament?

Update:

at least, I assume they're copper - the logitech website says they're copper. They look kind of bright to me for copper, more like brass frankly.

Update 2:

wow- a pencil eraser worked pretty well on the bottom of the mouse. Never would have expected that. Unfortunately there's tarnish on the contact down in the charging cradle, too, and I can't get at it with an eraser as easily (it's on sort of a leaf spring, so I can't press on it to get the friction going, it will just recede)
