Why exactly does it cost $80M USD to CLOSE a facility?

Doesn't this sound a little strange to anyone else? Can't they just fly out the Guantanamo detainees on military planes and then lock the door?

79 Million for the politicians. 1 Million for the cuban labor.

It probably would be more cost effective to 'abandon' most things given the outrageous cost of everything government does. $80M is probably double the cost of all equipment and supplies within GITMO.

No idea, I would just open the gate and set them loose into Cuba.

They can have Cuban pork sandwiches while they try to find a copy of the Koran.

Because the Democrats plan to put the terrorists in the Ritz Carlton instead. Hussein is a muslim who bows down to muslim dictators and can recite muslim prayers perfectly. Hussein believes in the cause of the terrorists.

I think the govt feels a need to demolish the facility and upgrade it so it could expand the military base.
