Are There Any Star Wars Books That Take Place Between New Hope and Empire Strikes Back?

I just read "Death Star" and I am reading "Shadows of the Empire which takes place between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Is there any Star Wars books that take place between A New Hope and Empire?

Allegiance. It's a god book that revolves around a group of stormtroopers that 'have a conscience.' (I won't give away the story anymore). It also involves Mara Jade as the 'Emperor's Hand.'

I recommend it...It's by Timothy Zahn (one of the best)

The Truce at Bakura is a good book but takes place after Return of the Jedi.

Splinter of the Minds Eye is technically a book that was set after A New Hope---it was to be made into a low-budget sequel to 'Star Wars' if the original was not a success. There are many continuity issues with this book (I haven't bothered to read it).

    Hope this helps

ALLEGIANCE and CHOICES OF ONE by Timothy Zahn as well as SPLINTER OF THE MINDS' EYE by Alan Dean Foster all take place (in official SW Universe time) between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Timothy Zahn is a terrific writer of the expanded Star Wars Universe. His books really began the 'expansion' with his "Thrawn" trilogy coming out after Return of the Jedi. Alan Dean Foster is a fantastic Sci-Fi and Fantasy writer, whose book, SPLINTER was originally written to be scripted into a sequel for A NEW HOPE, just in case the movie bombed. Both writers are well-received craftsmen, and all three books are worth reading to expand the Star Wars story.

There are actually numerous short novels between Episode IV and Episode V that are aimed at the young adult community, if you would like their names they can be found within the timeline at this site:

    http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline_of_books

Other than those, there is, as stated above:

    Allegiance by: Timothy Zahn

    And also:

Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina which is a collaboration of stories from different Star Wars EU authors (notable among the other authors are Timothy Zahn and Kevin J. Anderson)

Splinter of the Mind's Eye by: Alan Dean Foster is also in that time period, and is actually the first EU novel ever written. Inconsistencies include the more than brotherly-sisterly type love that Luke and Leia feel for one another at the time, as they are still unaware of their close relation.

Of these novels Allegiance is definitely the best read, followed probably by Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, and last of all (in my opinion) Splinter of the Mind's Eye. However in 2011 I believe Timothy Zahn is slated to release a new novel in this same time period that will serve as a sequel to Allegiance.

Splinter of The Mind's Eye takes place between the first two movies, it even has a now creepy love story subplot between Luke and Lea. That's the only one I know of, and it's fairly old, from before Empire came out, but you should be able to find it still, it's a fairly well known Star Wars novel.

There's 'Allegiance' by Timothy Zahn I'm not sure what it's about might be about Stormtroopers or something judging by the cover.

'Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantoonie' by Voronica Whitney-Robinson I'm not sure what that's about either, sorry I wish I could help more.
