Pointing out trolls ruins yahoo answers?

Trolls are annoying, yes. But isn't it annoying and kills yahoo answers when we point them out?

Sometimes these stupid questions are probably just people curious to see "how would people react to this?". And some of these questions are probably their true thoughts (which is sad) that they are hiding in real life.

We also can't just think every stupid, disgusting, or bad question is a troll question. There are some idiots and evil people out there. Watch the news.

Some of my friend's secrets are as awful, or worse awful, then these trolls. And it's sad to know that if she wanted to post her concerns, everyone would just call her "troll".

Just ignore them. Some of them are probably not even trolls, but just distorted or desperate people who need help.

no.. you can tell when someone is a true troll..

by looking at their q&a-- if all their questions are completely off the wall, backwards sh*t, chances are, they are just here for trolling.

but if someone is going to take the time to make a profile image, write something in the about me of their profile, has lots of points and has reached more than a level 1, chances are they arent a troll but they will get sh*t for the question anyway if its totally ridiculous.

Well I admit sometimes i wonde why people point them out, but always in the back of my head I wonder "what if" this a real person in need of my help.

I'm the type who will take a long time thinking and trying my best to help the person who asked. Normally after I finish typing my answer the screen will pop up showing about 5 or 6 people ahead of me who said this person was a "troll" so I wonder if I wasted my time. lol

So I worry if I do ignore it I may be ignorning someone who needs help.

Now I have seen some dumb questions that if they are real they would fall under the area of child abuse or having a child in danger. So often what I will do is click "report" this way if it is fake it will maybe get removed, but if it real I hope Yahoo will see the serious need to report the ISP address and contact this person or even the police.

It is sick that kids find it fun or a joke to do stuff like this though. When in fact often the "silly" things they are writing about are very true in some sad true life situations.

Well for one, we’re teens and we retaliate to peoples immature sh*t 99% of the time (depending on how mature we are feeling at the time to just leave it, or how immature we are feeling to attack it)

2 – You usually know a troll when you see one / see their other questions like someone has said

3 – It is often fun for us to stir them up and save us from the boredom that is the Adolescence section sometimes

4 – Making a deal of it exposes them, so we can look out for them and people who read it go out and start reporting them constantly so they get banned.

5 – if they do need help. There is NO NEED to make your question sound trollish. Saying ‘My penis is small, is this normal’, sounds troll like. If you say something like ‘I am 15years old and I think I honestly have a problem with my penis because I was in health class in sex ed and I seen majority of the penis’s were like this and looked like that, however mine looks a lot smaller and in a way, disfigured’. Putting more words and more justification can help us separate peoples actually needs for help, to that of a troll like question.

The way in which people word things and explain things doesn’t help us at all. We can’t exactly feel an emotion or see an emotion of someone just because they said something. They have to say it to us in a way that draws us to it and makes us clearly understand their problem. S33ing s0m30n3 talk lyk dis n tryna ask a s3ri0us question is just a pain in the *** so we make fun of them. We’re trying to get an idea of what is happening by looking and reading. When things aren’t clear or well typed or justified, we get agitated, cranky and think ‘well if you aren’t going to explain and be serious, you’re a troll. It’s the internet, no one will know you’re here, so just say things properly if you want help. We don’t know you, we cant pick on you when we see you at school, we don’t know you from a bar of soap! But some people have the inability to phrase things so that the reader clearly understands and doesn’t think they’re trolling or feel the need to be judged.

So by making a fuss, it has it’s good and bad consequences. Good – we get a bit of fun around here, we have a laugh and they end up getting enough reports to be banned. Bad – the trolls take it and run and start causing more trouble

  • People can usually tell if someone is a troll by their past Q&A, if they just signed up, etc. people will still know they are trolls even if people didn't point it out. i personally don't think it's annoying or kills yahoo answers when we point them out. honestly, if we don 't point them out some people will think the questions are serious and waste their time answering a troll question. trolls are a waste of space on this answer board. therefore, that's why people point them out.

    because its fun.

and most of the time, you can just TELL.

yea, some people on here ask stupid questions or have horrible scenarios and its REAL.

but a lot of the time, the things trolls say and do are so ridiculous anyone can see through it.

its especially easy when they cant keep their story straight.

if your friend wants to post her concerns, and is really THAT worried about being called a troll, she can always reference you as a reputable user, or simply say "i am not a troll", a lot of times saying that alone can do the trick.

The adolescent section says [troll] the most. The other sections either ignore or answer the stupid questions. I rarely see [troll] anywhere else.

Honestly, I don't care what you think. I will keep calling people trolls if I think they are.

BTW I see no question here.

If I see a question I think it could be a troll, I either ignore the question altogether, or I actually answer the question anyways.
