How long should I take off work after having my wisdom teeth out?
I will soon be having my bottom wisdom teeth removed in hospital under general anaesthetic. My question is, how long should I take off work? Different people have given me different answers and the hospital haven't given me much guidance on it. The other thing is, I'm a teacher and I spend the majority of my day talking, so it will have a big effect on my job. What do people think?
Unfortunately I'm at the mercy of the NHS, so whenever I get my appointment, I have to take it cos god knows when the next one will be! Plus I really am suffering with them now so I can't face the thought of putting it off.

It would be prudent to take at least 3 days off if you can. Barring any complications like infection or dry socket you should be functioning well enough by then to teach. A suggestion if getting time off is a problem, Have the teeth out on Friday and only take Monday off. You only miss one workday. Good luck with the extractions.

Do u need them taken out right away? If not I would just wait til school is over for the summer. When I had mines taken out it was a few days before I could talk again. But I would say a good week to recover at the most but it does depends on how it affects you.

I was 33 when I had mine out. I think 3 of them were impacted. I took a week off of work, but I didn't really need it. I probably could have gone back to work on the second day, but chose to stay home. It probably wasn't a bad thing, because resting helps the body heal. And be sure to follow the surgeon's directions carefully, it will make a big difference in your healing time. Overall it wasn't a bad experience and the surgeon told me I healed very quickly. I attribute that to resting and following his instructions.

I had mine taken out and planned on being in alot of pain, took a few days off work, and I actually was fine, no real pain at all and was fine the next day. Just took advil for the pain that was there. I would say a day or two.
