What's going on with this boy?

Ok i had a birthday party at my house and this random guy shows up with a group of my friends and i didn't know him. Someone told me he wanted to dance with me. I asked him if it was true and he said ya so i danced with him. he was cute n all so i chilled with him a little...i tried talkin to him but he seemed shy...he would give me one worded answers. I asked him if i was makin him uncomfortable n all n he sed no...i said if i was to let me kno cuz i normally dont approach guys like that. so i kept hangin around him thinkin hes just shy. he left without askin for my number or anything so i figured if he was interested he would have asked. One of my friends said he was naturally shy...the other said hes not shy at all. The one who told me he was shy said i should add him on facebook and try talkin to him. But when i added him he rejected. whats going on?
