Disk/File Encryption and File Deletion software?
I am kind of paranoid when it comes to my computer data. I am looking for software (not free stuff) to tighten my security. So I have 2 questions that I need answered:
1. What’s the best software on the market that encrypts disks and/or files?
2. What’s the best software to completely delete (destroy) data from a hard drive, with out destroying the hard drive? Looking for local deleting and complete disk wipe.
Any help you can give me will greatly appreciated.

Hi,
You might want to install the free Gold Lock Desktop (from www.gold-lock.com), it is an Israeli encryption system, which encrypts your files on the fly, wipes them out from your HD, and lets you keep the key on a flash drive that you can take with you.
Basically, if the flash drive is connected, your files are accessible, if not - your files are encrypted using AES 256 Bits and can not be decrypted.
The software also encrypts emails, in case you wish to do that.
Hope it helps...

Just to feed you paranoia - you can't ever truly delete something from a hard drive without melting down the glass! (but what you're talking about is called 0ing (zero-ing) the drive).
For doing that, try 'Evidence Eliminator'. It's supposed to be the business for doing it.
You may need to re-partition the drive after you've used it though, to make Windows able to read it.
hope this helps!

Hey my friend, I will suggest some nice software to you that I have been using for my file encryption needs and also to delete files permanently. The software that i would recommend and are tried and trusted are TrueCrypt and Data Protecto. They provide free versions and also have almost all of the data security features at one place.
