Keeping mosquitoes away?

We are having a bonfire tonight and while I was outside getting wood for the fire, I already got bitten like... 5 times!!! I always get bitten so much and it's really annoying. I need an easy, yet effective way to keep mosquitoes and other bugs away while I'm outside BESIDES bug spray! I am going to put some on, but I still get bitten. I don't have time to go to the store to buy anything, but if that's the ONLY way then I would like to know of it anyway.

Thanks everyone! :D

Smoke from your bonfire will help. Smoke naturally repels insects. Also, you could cut down on the amount of mosquitoes by making sure there is no stagnant water in the area such as in old car tires or tree stumps. A little bleach added to the stagnant water will kill larvae in the future. The short term solution could be your bug spray and trying to stay near the smoke/fire.

A few months back after the rainy season, we were plagued by skitters and I came across a little blurb in the AARP bulletin which we tried and it works. Mix 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water placed on the desk or balcony and for some reason it keeps them away. For personal protection, rub a dab or two of lavender oil on your wrists and elbows. Haven't been bitten yet!

My grandma used to drink a half a cup of Vinegar.

And she never ever got bitten by mosquitos. XD

I know that isn't the tastiest way to go, but it sure works!

wear layers or cloths that cover your body (eg, long pants and a jacket/jumper) then also use bug repelant.

    hope that might help
