cats with long hair??????

i'm sorry if this is a dumb question.. is there any way to tell if a kitten will grow up to have long hair? or short hair...

this is my new kitten Bailie..

she still is with her mother as she is only 10 days old.. but tell me what you think.. is it possible that she will grow to be medium to long haired.. or do you think she is destined for short hair... their are equal amounts of both long and short haired cars in her family.....

Update:

i won't love her any less if she ends up being a short hair but it would be lovely if she has meduim to long hair... not sure if this will help but here are some more pictures... the first one is his mother and the second one is his older brother.. is there a chance even a slight one that he will get fur like his older brother or even slightly in beween?????

My cat had kittens recently and it looks to me that your pretty calico is going to be a medium or short haired coat. I had 2 that were long hair and they looked like puff balls up through their 2nd month. I can't tell for sure as the photos don't tell the whole story. If her coat is really thick at the length it appears, she will likely be a medium coat. Soft and fuzzy but not long haired

I honestly have one in each and every of each and every. They both shed like a sumbitch, in spite of the undeniable fact that the shorthair seems to have a a lot messier way of shedding. It receives everywhere in the dang ol' position. The lengthy hair sheds, yet in tufts that come out in a more advantageous managed way. Get the cat you pick, because till the cat is hairless you'd be cleansing up cat hair regardless. I in basic terms offered a tremendous lint roller at objective, about a foot lengthy. probably the wisest purchase i have made in a lengthy time period.

One method is to look at the parents. If they are longhaired the chances are greater that the kitten will be also. Usually short haired kittens have fairly short slick fur that sits close to their body, while longer haired kittens will have fuzzier fur that stands a way from the body a bit.

I agree, i think she will end up w/ atleast medium. Most the time you can get a good idea looking at the mom and dad and other siblings, but she is fluffy and usually they end up w/ meduim to long when they are fluffy kitten = )

I'm not sure but if I had to gess I would say long hair because I think most cats have less hair than that at that age.

She's very cute though--Have fun with your new kitten!

She's pretty small still but I think she is going to be medium to long-haired. She's a pretty fluffy kitten.
