Musicians/actors out there, How do you make a living? (singers if possible)?
I always wanted to sing, perhaps even do acting as a career. I wanted to know. those of you that do. How do you make a living?
what does a show/gig usually pay if you manage to land one?
And when there aren't, how do you make money in the meantime?

If you REALLY want a musical career, then you need to get another career to live on... like being a chef or a bar tender.
I've been a professional musician for over 50 years. The best money I made was on the 3 world tours I made with as many bands. I retired from the grind about 9 years ago, but I still play small venues of 100 covers or less... and I play for the gate... none of the bar or house money... just the gate and, I have made anywhere from a couple of hundred for a night to about $2000 for a night... it varies.
Like most professional musicians, I am also an excellent Chef and I can tend bar with the best of them because when you become a professional musician you need to be able to do a LOT of different things if you hope to eat on a regular basis

you should get a second job.
being a musician is very hard, gigs pay small. with what you earn in gigs, you only get enough for a day or two.
