What are some good ways to clean up wood surfaces.?

I have wooden cupboards and I notice they have a strong "wood" smell. They are not cedar, which would be a nice smell. Are there any good ways to clean up wood and eliminate the wood smell?

Murphy's Oil Soap is a great cleaner for wood surfaces, even floors. It comes in a spray bottle for easier cleanup or you can buy the bottle & add it to a pail or basin of water. Wipe the area dry with a soft clean cloth afterwards & the surface will shine. MOS has a vegetable base to it, so it won't harm wooden surfaces & it's gentle on your hands as well. A good friend of mine, sprays MOS on a soft, clean, cloth & wipes her wooden tables & other wooden furniture each week. Our church janitor also washes the church pews, etc. with MOS. I like the nice clean scent it leaves behind. The best place to buy it is at the Dollar General store & Family Dollar store. It's so much cheaper than buying it at the grocery store, etc.
