The car is parked & turned off, Light switches are turned off, The brake light and Stop is still on, Why!?

They appear to stay on even when I shut the engine and park it in the Parking lot, this just happened today.

There could be a very simple answer to this question... the rubber bumper that acts on the brake light switch could have deteriorated and fallen out. This leaves too much space between the brake pedal and the switch so the switch is never turned off. This leaves the brake lights on all the time as they are wired such that it doesn't matter if the key is on or if the lights are on.

Get under the dash and look above the brake pedal. You should find a gizmo with a plunger sticking out of it sitting right over a spot in the brake pedal arm that has a hole in it. That hole is where the rubber bumper is secured in.

While someone is watching the lights, push in the plunger and see if the lights go off. You might have to go to the dealership's parts counter asking for that bumper but it should be cheap and easy to install yourself.

    Good luck!

If your brake switch is bad or misadjusted it will cause this. Pull up on the brake pedal. If the lights go out you need to adjust the switch.

I had a Toyota Corolla and a little rubber pad fell off of the brake pedal and caused the brake lights to stay on. It killed the battery.

Get under the dash and look at your brake pedal. There will be a switch that is activated by movement of the arm. The button or plunger should be completely engaged by the brake pedal to turn off the lights.

I had something like this happen to me with a vauxhall astra. My brake lighting fixtures furniture stayed on. Do what the others have suggested, look at your rear lighting fixtures furniture with the battery reconnected and then turn your headlights on. in the event that they get brighter then particular, your brake mild is on. fairly, it must be a swap at the back of your brake pedal itself. this might have fallen off or come out of alignment. it often is a case of only clipping it back on the place it belongs. should not be a problematic job or something which you ought to take to a mechanic. no rely if that's that, then the mechanics are gonna get an extremely common hour labour out of you.

brake light switch, make sure the pedal is making contact to open the switch, I had a piece of rubber break on mine and when you let off the brake it would not come up and open the switch

    Replace the brake light switch.

The brake pedal may be stuck slightly, just enough to turn on the brake lights.
