Gold in the 10 peso coins?

Is it true that the 10 peso coins released in the year 2001 contains gold?

My cousins are searching for it in our piggy banks to be exchanged for P500 each coin.

Is it true???

    It's not true.

"According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the inner disc of the coin is made of an aluminum-bronze alloy (92% copper, 6% aluminum, 2% nickel)."

I was also fooled by the bills with the U.P. logo in them. My friend from U.P. said it has value and told me to exchange it in U.P. Later on, I found out that it's not true.

last time i made a research on Phil coins.

the BSP tries to make the value of each coin equal to its amount.

so they try to make a 1 peso coin cost 1 peso only if melted by junk shops.

meaning a 10 peso coin should cost around (or less than) 10 pesos!

the reason for this is that if they make coins out of gold, some people will just melt it and turn it to something more useful/expensive

LoL: Hoax. Ask any bank. Central Bank follows a procedure in minting of coins, I don't see any reason why 2001 is special that they minted 10 peso coins with gold..

its not true, but today 2001 coins are rare, many coin collectors now searching for it for exchange of 1000 peso bill. they said it will raise the collector value the rarest coin. actually now 10 peso bill 2001 edition value is up to 3500 peso and its increasing due to its rareability.

the only 10-peso coin with trading value way above its face value is the 1988 people power commemorative 10-peso coin. it is being sold for at least P50, although collectors have been known to pay P1000 for it.

I lost mine almost 10 years ago when my roomate swiped it to buy cigarettes.

Not true but coins have more value than you think. A 1000 peso bill is just paper.
