Melbourne Storm in the comp, why the animosity still?

Question

Ok so I know a lot of people hate them, but they really do have  a lot of support down here now. Rugby league is now starting to get the recognition that I believe is well overdue (bar channel 9). So why then do we find our greatest critics are still those in the NRL fans outside of Victoria? A lot of my friends who are die hard AFL supporters still have more respect for our boys. And please don't give me the "GRUBS" excuse because apart from being sooo last year, the past few weeks have shown indeed where the grubs in fact are. I just believe that if we are to survive as a sport, we need to stand together. (Competition aside that is!)

I have a lot of respect for the Storm, they are a team I grudgingly admire, like the Bulldogs this season. They aren't a team I genuinely hate, like Manly or a team I despise like the Roosters or even a team that I believe doesn't belong in the comp like Souths. The Storm is an integral part of the NRL. They've earned their place and I while I'll never love them, I'll support them whenever they play Manly, Souths or the Roosters. Plus, I always enjoy watching the Tigers kick their ****.

There is no denying they are a strong team and may be building their fan base.

But i still can't stand the Storm.
As for not being able to call them grubs because it's "sooo last year", Manly are still the most hated (maybe second behind the Storm now) and this hate started decades ago among Rugby League supporters and has damn well stuck!

There is no convincing NSW supporters, we'll at least not me, to not hate the Storm.

Yer im a Melbourne Supporting and i gotta feeling the hating on the Storm aint gonna stop anytime soon But owell we shouldnt really care just as long as they keep playing some good footy im happy

Storms Are Ultimatley On of the strongest teams in the comp. But they are also among the most hated aswell.  But since they are the only side in melbourne ofcourse they are going to get alot of support.

I hated the storm for the last two years, but i decided to get over it, I realised i should hate my true enemy...the broncos instead.

Storm are a good team, and a good team are gonna win a lot of the time

I like the Storm in the comp. they are usually the team to beat and the fan base in Melbourne seems to be getting bigger and bigger, and they are building a new stadium to accommodate all of them.

I hate them because they hammered Manly in the GF, and even though we totally thrashed them, I still dislike them because of players like Slater, Smith, Crocker (yeah he's with Souths now but still).
But I don't mind them. But I don't like them.
