HELP! Ipod won't sync; what happened?

This is a fairly new computer Feb 2009; it's runs on a Window's Vista. I wanted to add more songs to my ipod and last month and it's won't sync now. I bought a few songs from itunes and now I can't even sync the songs to my ipod because it doesn't read my ipod. I even ran a diagnostic check and it doesn't recognize my ipod while it's plugged it. I called HP Pavilion and they told me to call Apple ipod. I noticed Apple charges a fee if your ipod is more than 90 days old. What can I do to fix this problem I am having? My son spent $50.00 on a itunes card and now we can't use it IF we can't sync any of the songs. If I un-install itunes from my computer and reinstall will I loose the songs I just bought? What can I do? Somebody help me,,..............

Okay, first things first. What kind of iPod do you have? 1) iTouch, make sure that it's out of DTMF mode. (A.K.A.) if you've ever held the lock and home button for ten seconds, released the lock and held the home for another 5 seconds. 2) Nano, Video, Classic; check and make sure that your iPod can atleast charge, that'll buy you some time. Second, if you've bought the songs on your old computer and tried to sync them on your new one it won't work because an iTunes library can only be synced with one library, and you'd be trying to syncing it with 2. (Technically.) If that doesn't work then you're going to have to call Apple.

Ok so is this the same computer that you plugged your ipod into the 1st time you ever plugged your ipod into a computer? If it is then there may be a problem with the cable. If it is just i tunes that can't recognize your ipod then it is a problem with your itunes account. and no if you re-install ituens you will not loose your music it is still connected to you by your e-mail. I hope this helps let me know if you need more help.

I had the same problem with mine not too long ago. It turned out that there was a mishap in the Windows Media Player system, and the computer wouldn't identify anything that was plugged into the USB drive. Try sending your computer to a professional, or at least someone who knows what they're doing. You can also try getting a Manhattan USB PC card to plug in any device requiring a USB port into it. That should read it.

Connect the iPod, open iTunes (if already open form before close and open again), open iPod on iTunes and under [Summary] tab make sure [Manually manage music] is UNCHECKED, under the [Music] tab make sure [Sync Music] is CHECKED, at the bottom it should say [Apply] click it, then click [sync] and you should have your songs! good luck and I hope it helps!

*Note: if you use a different computer to do this then all your other songs will be erased*
