Bearded dragon substrate question?

I have a 2 year old beardie who is currently on sand.

I hate how dusty it is and the smell it has. What other substrate could I use?

Would he be okay on repti-carpet? Any suggestions?

He would be alright on reptile carpet. They can get their claws stuck in it...rarely.

I personally prefer to use crushed walnut shell for bearded dragons. It's edible, no impaction. Not dusty, not smelly. Still easy to clean and natural looking in a habitat.

You can also use millet for them. Also edible, no smell, easy to clean and not dusty.

once you feed the dragon in a separate container the sand is often high quality. Sterile youthful little ones play sand may be offered affordably from place of residing Depot or everywhere equivalent. you additionally can might desire to now no longer use it merely to be on the risk-free side in spite of the incontrovertible fact that. they may be waiting to besides the reality that devour it by utilizing accident (or stupidity). as quickly as bearded dragons are adults, they might frequently stay completely marvelous on the sand without plenty probability of impaction. Calcium sand isn't stable once you think approximately that too plenty calcium is unfavorable and the grains of calcium sand are frequently very extensive and that is not absorbed speedy sufficient so it would not stop impaction.

Reptile carpet would be fine but be sure you get a couple of pieces so when you take one out to wash you have another ready to go in. You can also use slate, unglazed tiles, paper towels and washable shelf liner.
