Johnny Cash is more publicized then Hank Williams, so he may be the easier choice for some. But Hank Williams is a legend, even Cash looked up to him. In the 29 years Hank was on this earth he had many accomplishments. He is still remembered today, 56 years after his death people are still listening to his songs, and paying respects to him. Even folks in other areas of music besides country respect Hank, his songs have been covered in just about every genre. Not only have his songs been covered, there have been numerous songs written ABOUT him. To help keep his legacy alive please sign the petition to have him reinstated into the grand ole opry:

Johnny Cash is a great source of inspriration to me. He's a man who has lived a hard life (Walk the Line doesn't even come close to showing this-read the books Cash and Man in Black for the whole, real story) and then lived the good life. The love between him and June Carter is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Not everyone can love that much. Most of all I love John because he never compromised his beliefs. He stood up for people less fortunate than himself and recorded the music that he wanted to. I also love him because he gave Kris Kristofferson his start when Kris flew a helicopter into his yard to give Johnny his demo in person. How cool is that.

I would have to say Hank. He was absolutely amazing in the short time he was here. I'm a fan of Johnny's as well, but for me Hank takes it.

However, if you want to go by the nicknames people were given, Jimmy Rogers is known as the father of country music, and Roy Acuff is known as the king of country music. Both amazing artists as well.

I have massive respect for them both, and I'm partial to Cash's music, but I think that Hank was better, but only by a little.

Hank Williams was the greater. He wrote his own songs, and songs for others.
