Your goal in these problems is to get the variable on only one side of the equation. To do that, you would start with this: a. 5t - 9= -3t + 7 -5t -5t resulting in this: -9 = -8t +7 next, you do this: -9 = -8t + 7 -7 -7 resulting in this: -16 = -8t next you do this: -16 = -8t ------------- -8 -8 resulting in: 2=y b. 3/4n + 16 = 2 - 1/8n (-1/8n + -6/8n) -3/4n -3/4n resulting in: 16 = 2- 7/8n +2 +2 resulting in: 18 = 7/8n (18 div. 7/8 = 18/1 x 8/7 = 144/7) --------------- 7/8 7/8 which means: 144/7=n You may want to check the multiplication and division-I did it in my head :D I just noticed this- when you are adding and subtracting on here, the other part should go on the other side of the = sign, but it kinda messed it up.

I'm just assuming here, but you need this help for your own homework, do you not? Why would you go this far to help your 'sister'?
