    Nothing.

At least, nothing that is connected to the Big 2012 Hoax.

    1) The Maya

On that day, the Sun will arrive at its southernmost declination on the ecliptic. For people in North and Central America, this day marks the beginning of winter (for most Asians, it marks the middle of winter).

For the Maya, it also was "New Year's Day" in their common calendar (the calendar used by ordinary people).

The calendar used by astronomers and historians of the Mayan people, is a day count calendar. It counts days according to cycles. On that day, the day count calendar will reach a round figure.

    2012.12.20 = 12.19.19.17.19

    2012.12.21 = 13.00.00.00.00

    2012.12.22 = 13.00.00.00.01

    and so on

Just like our calendar was set up to change from 1999 to 2000 on New Year's Day (Dec. 31 to Jan. 1), their calendar's round figure was set to fall on New Year's Day as well (it is not a very complicated calculation).

The idea that the Mayan calendar ends is false (that idea was invented in the late 1980s). The idea that the Mayan date means the start of a New Age or a big change for humanity was invented in the late 1960s by astrologers. The idea that it "predicts" the end-of-the-world was invented after June 2003.

    2) Planet X

It was invented for the end-of-the-world of June 2003. Planet X was to pass too close to Earth and cause all kinds of problems, including a tsumani. As far as I know, June 2003 passed and we are still here.

    3) The "Ancient Predictions"

Nostradamus, the Bible, the Mayan end-of-the-world prediction... all invented AFTER June 2003 by the same people who had invented Planet X.

    4) The Sun crossing the planet (of whatever)

No. The solar system does cross the plane of the Galaxy every 25 million years or so, but the next crossing is still 11 million years away (or more, don't book an exact date yet).

The Sun does not line up with the centre of the Galaxy (it just can't) and the Sun does cross the Galactic equator every year, twice a year (around Dec. 21 and June 21).

The "event" that started all that is the winter solstice (an artificial position on the ecliptic) does cross the Galactic equator (a recently created line to provide a coordinate system). That is the "event" that prompted the astrologers to announce a "New Age".

And the "event" is not in 2012 (but who cares about accuracy at this stage).

    ---

The Mayan people peaked around the 10th century. The Spanish conquest came 6 centuries after that.

The Aztec and the Inca are the ones who got "Conquistadored", the Maya were already out of the picture (as an empire) by then.

Not much. I hope to have finished my Christmas shopping, but you know how that is!

The UFOs are coming? Do you mean Flying Saucers from Mars? Heck, that seems pretty unlikely, don't you think?

The day of judgment? For whom? Christians are about 20% of the world's population, yet their god will judge everyone? Sounds pretty silly.

Are we gonna die? Everyone dies eventually. It happens. All on the same day? Sounds far fetched.

The Sun is gonna closer/farther to the Earth? Yikes! Grammar! The Sun is closest to the Earth in January of every year and farthest in July. This won't change.

A new cycle of life? I want a mountain bike, please. Black.

An aliment with the planets? Aliment means sickness... 'alignment' means linear order and NO there will be none of either.

The Mayan empire lasted many years, but mysteriously collapsed sometime in the 8th or 9th century. They were pretty good visual astronomers, too, though vastly hampered with a clumsy written language and ungainly number system. I'd give them a 4... good beat and you can dance to it, but the lyrics just leave me cold.

1618? Was that the date of the last Long Count? yeah, we have lived thru a dozen. Spooky, huh?

The whole 2012 thing was made up by people that want you to buy their books. Ironically, some of these creeps, cheats and liars, are now starting to feel the pressure as 2012 approaches and are disappearing to "prepare"... where I am from, we call that "skedaddle".

Try not to worry about stuff like this... remember to fasten your seat belt... try to get some exercise and eat right.

Call your mom... she loves you.

It's a Wednesday, so I'll probably stay up and watch some TV, but that's about it.

    * UFOs aren't coming. They've been here for years. Nothing new.

    * Judgment Day? As in the Terminator?

    * Somebody will die. That's a statistical certainty. People die every day.

    * That happens every day. The Earth has an elliptical orbit. this is normal.

    * A new cycle? Are we talking about Menstruation?

    * Alignments happen every year. It's nothing special.

The Maya thing is bull. Some German made most of it up. The Mayan calendar has already flipped over once. It's just going to happen again. The Mayan calendar ending doens't mean the end of the world, it means the end of the current Mayan royal dynasty, but also the beginning of the next. It isn't an omen of doom. The Mayans also didn't suddenly disappear. Their society was in decline because of famine and political infighting, then the Spanish came with guns and murdered them.

No one but hoaxers with stuff to sell actually predicted the end of the world in 2012. The Mayans didn’t predict it and their calendar doesn’t end. It is just the end of this cycle of their calendar.

Nostradamus didn’t predict it. He never mentioned 2012. Mother Shipton didn’t predict it.

If UFO's were going to come in 2012, we wouldn't have any way of predicting that.

Judgement Day - the Bible never says when it is to be.

Are we gonna die - about the same number of people who die on any other day.

The Sun will remain about the same distance from Earth as we continue our normal orbit. Since our orbit is elliptical, the distance varies a little during the year.

A new cycle in life - what does that mean to you? To me, it means nothing.

    Alignment - see below

Nibiru was invented by Zecharia Sitchen from old Sumerian references to Jupiter. He didn’t say it would return in 2012. The supposed Nibiru collision was dreamed up in 1995 by Nancy Lieder, who claims to channel messages from extra-terrestrials from the Zeta Reticuli star system.

Mark Hazlewood admits to having no scientific background. He wrote "Blindsided, Planet X Passes in 2003, Earth Changes!" His claims about Planet X based are based on his interpretations of Zacharia Sitchin’s nonsense.

Planet X was a name that was used by astronomers when looking for an unknown planet. The doomsday hoaxers decided it was a real planet and predicted that it was to hit Earth in 2003. When it didn't show up, they moved it out to 2012 to tie it in with the end of this cycle of the Mesoamerican calendar.

The Sun isn’t going to be aligned with the center of the galaxy.

The “planetary alignment” is only the way they appear in our view of the sky, not a real alignment.

Polar reversals don't happen suddenly. They take around 5,000 years, with estimates ranging from 1,000 years to 8,000 years.

There is actually an eleven year cycle in sunspot activity and Solar Storms, and the next Solar maximum is due in 2012 or 2013. The effects of solar flares are mainly on communications and radio transmissions.

Web bots crawl the web to catch new and existing web sites and detect relevant keywords. With all the garbage about 2012 on the internet, what else would you expect it to say? Remember the old computer adage: garbage in, garbage out.

On twenty first December 2012, the comparable ingredient will ensue as on each and every previous envisioned date for the top of the international.... not something. human beings will upward thrust up, bypass to artwork or college and are available homestead in the night, basically as for a classic day. they'll watch the night television information, on the top of which there may well be a comical merchandise approximately doomsday nuts barricading themselves into their underground bunkers or taking to the hills. and that's it. human beings have the two under no circumstances heard of it or comprehend it to be nonsense. greater often than not, they automatically forget approximately approximately idiotic doomsday predictions because of the fact they comprehend completely nicely that they are going to volume to not something. twenty first December 2012 would be basically an difficulty-free day and there is not any medical information that broadcasts in any different case.

I predict it will be cold that day, seeing as it will be the winter solstice.

This 2012 stuff is utter nonsense. Remember how people went crazy with the coming of 2000? Did the end of the world happen? No.

Oh, I'll predict one more thing: People will be writing more books about the end of the world happening at some later point in time.

Source(s): No one can predict the future. That includes Aztecs, Mayans, Toltecs, and new age divine light groupies.
