How long are Honda recalls honored?

I have a 98 Honda Accord that now has ignition switch problems. In 2002 Honda put out a recall on the switch. It was never done on this car. This is known because of the lack of a punch mark over the 8th digit of the VIN. My question is, do these recalls expire or are they good until they are performed?

    Safety recalls are forever. All tech. don't always punch mark the Vin number. Have the service advisor run a history on your car so you don't wast your time.

    Call the Service Department and ask them however I might plan on no less than part the day. If you wish to have a vehicle and you realize you're taking yours to the store then make preparations for a further trip earlier than you drop off the Honda.

    If it's a safety issue; its forever. Take it to the dealer.
