What to look for in a digital camera?

I would love a better camera then the FinePix A610 I have, its a great camera I love it to death but I want something with a faster shutter speed and more professional.

I have kids I take pictures of for family, they could care less about the quality but I do.

I've come across two Canon's I'm thinking of buying but can't make up my mind

The price rage I'm looking for is around $2,000-

I think you should start out with the cheaper one at $900. You can get the camera and get a lens or two. The other one the $2500+ one is very hardcore professional photographers who do photo editing. That is one of the main reasons someone would want a camera that takes pictures at 22 megapixels. At that size you can blow up a picture to a couple of feet and have no degradation in picture quality. The $2000 camera is probably over kill for your needs. Also remember that megapixel size does not corelate to better pictures. It is about lens quality, ISO settings, etc.

Here is a guide on how to buy a digital camera. http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-buy-a...

You should also search for the cameras in http://www.google.com/ and search for "name of camera" review and a bunch of reviews for the camera will be listed.
