what kind of wiring nightmare am i looking at if i put a 7.3 diesel non-turbo engine and auto trans into a motorhome where a gas motor was, specifically a non-ford gas motor...this is an older 7.3 that probably isn't as managed by a computer as the newer ones are.
has anyone retro-fitted a diesel into a gas frame that can answer my questions?
thank you.
this is a pre powerstroke motor from a 1 ton pickup. due to this economy the guy is parting out the truck as its basically rusting out but the motor and trans still run great...and his price is $500 for the combo, that is the only reason i'm looking at going this way instead of replacing with a gas motor. the engine came with no turbo from the factory.

not a big nightmare, if you understand electrics and have the proper schematics for the motor. You might want the turbo though, a bit more power getting it all up to speed. ATS made turbos for them.

If you use a pre power stroke 7.3 , no problems at all other than the electrics for the glow plugs and the heavier duty wiring for the starter and all
All powerstrokes run on computers and wouldn't recommend a swap into a motorhome without a full wiring harness from the donor vehicle and lots of electrical experience
