what has gelatin in it?

I have been a vegetarian for 3 weeks, but have noticed that things I have eatin have had gelatin in them that I would have never expected like a salad dressing that we have. what are foods that I should check the ingredients before eating that might have gelatin in them?

I've learned to just check the labels on _everything_. Even some innocuous sounding Green Giant veggies have gelatin in them -- like their red potato Steamers and their Broccoli and Carrots in Garlic and Herb Sauce.

Gelatin is commonly used as a thickener. Some yogurts contain it, especially the lower fat varieties, and some desserts like mousses. I've even seen sour cream with gelatin as a thickener and stabilizer. Check those labels; this stuff can crop up like ticks on a hound dog!

gelatine is in lots of things, but you shold also be checking for other things too - for instance "Cochineal" is a food colouring which is made from beetles but is still present in things like candy. Check out the vegetarian society website for more specific stuff:
