The last fun book I read was "World Without End" by Ken Follett. It's set in 14th century England and its about a group of people and their lives. If you are more than 16 or 17 years old, it would probably be a good read, if you are younger, try Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli, or Flush, or Scat, or Hoot by Carl Hiassen.

Erasure by Percival Everett. It didn't have a plot, so i can't classify it as love story, or mystery type of thing, but it was good. It's all about racial identity in American society. It's an awesome book but not for young people (i.e. under 17, because of sex, language, topics, and generally you have to think very hard to understand the subtleties of Everett's writing. Not saying someone under 17 is too stupid, i'm generalizing here. I wouldn't have gotten it when i was 15 or 16.)
