Can you camp out in a public park for one night?
I've repeated this question so many times.. so i'm now putting it in my favorite section, where i hope it won't be ignored!
If you live in a very secluded, unpopulated town, could you camp out in a public park that is completely empty at night? If not, what would happen if you did?
oh, btw, the park is just up the street from my house.. so there would be nearby safety?

I have camped out at a public park. Don't know why, I just thought it would be fun and peaceful or something. It was although I wouldn't recommend it. Even in a unpopulated town it is dangerous.

Technically no, it is probably illegal under your city statutes. However if you live in a small enough town, then I'm sure you could get away with it. And if anyone sees you, they're not likely to bother you. Regular folks will just keep walking, cops that may be patrolling the area will probably just tell you to get a move on.
Probably nothing will happen. You're more likely to get trouble from the local wildlife (if you have supper there, keep your food away from your tent or you might get raccoons in) than people in a small town.

If you are talking about a city park, usually not. Most have legal "closing" hours which could get you a fine or even an arrest if found in after hours.

With my luck the police would come along and make me leave because the public park wasn't ment for camping. Can't we just camp at your house?

I am not sure on the legality of it. I think it just depends on the city ordinances. It does sound kind of fun to do though. I know as kids we would camp out in our own backyard. It was so much fun!

probably violates some ordinance, and cost some fines if you get caught. but think about what kind of people are in a public park late at night, and why they're there. (while your sleeping) lol

no not really unless im with about 10 people. there more kidnappers in unpopulated own than populated town.

most parks you have to get a permit for that. talk to the people who run the park and they will let you know.
