Maxtor 60 GB Hard Drive failure XP Pro SP3?
I installed this HD (jumper set to Master [have tried CS & installed in a different computer as a Salve]) with a fully functional XP Pro operating system. The HD I removed from the computer had a pirated version of XP Pro. I neglected to boot the HD from the XP disk. I believe when it booted it failed the Windows Screen Test. Now it will not work at all.
The BIOS detects the HD, but the system will not. If I try to boot from the System disk, it goes through the set up to the repair portion. If I click on continue, repair, or install it will not detect the HD.
Is there any way to rejuvenate??

hi mr.t when try to boot up dose your srceen go blank if it dose and you can't try this to get back in your computer when it go blank .
the first thing you do is when hit start button at the same time hold down ctrl alt key just as soon as it start to boot up hold down F9 all three key at the same time a screen should come up ask you if you like boot up with safe mode safe mode just put standard you should be able get in to start screen you all so can try F8 F7 key along with ctrl alt this my work for you i have done it ed

Windows hardware abstraction layer (HAL) does not like having the underlying CPU, motherboard, hard drive controllers changed on it. If you installed on one type of hardware and have switched to different hardware, XP is not going to boot. You will, at minimum, have to do an "in-place upgrade" from the original install CD to get it working with the new hardware.
Do a search on in-place upgrade at support.windows.com for exact instructions.

i might might desire to believe you, i does not pick Vista the two. it is recommended to coach off your pc and boot from the disc extremely of only installation it. You do might desire to do a sparkling deploy, for sure an improve can not artwork. attempt it, keep me published. Oh, and alot of documents which you had on your pc for drivers and stuff would be long previous in case you are trying this, so i might get all the drivers for all the interior aspects and cyber web provider first earlier doing this. sturdy success.
