alright, here's what I need help with.
say a persons overall grade in a subject is 85%.
then, they take two tests, which they get a 50 in each test. one test is worth 23% and the other is worth 28%, what will your overall grade be after scoring a 50 on each one?

Woah, if I understand this correctly, two tests are worth about 50% of your grade!?! Well, if this is that case, then if you get perfects on both then your grade should be about a 92.5%.
Edit: Your percentage would be 92.5% because 23%+28% = 51% (which I assume you meant to be 50%)
Since there are two equal parts of your final grade, an 85 and a 100, you just add them together and divide by the number of factors: (85 + 100) / 2 = 92.5%
