Changing a bogust Re-4 JFX?

My husband was in the USMC for about 13 months (2005-2006). Basic went well, but then when he got into SOI (School of Infantry) he became victim to severe hazing. He was hand cuffed to a pole and beaten on several occassions and at one point he had to share a room with his squad leader to subjected him to painful "excercises" multiple times a day. 3-4 months later my husband went UA, but once he reported everything, his command put him on Authorized Leave so that he could heal and then come back. He went back to Camp Lejeune and a few weeks later he was still suffering from depression so he went to the hospital. After a 15 minute sit down with a psychologist he was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and recommended for a Discharge. Between the time that he was "diagnosed" and the time he was discharged he was put to work at head quarters (2-3 months), in a healthier work environment, with other marines who did not beat the crap out of him every day. BECAUSE of the better work environment, he was promoted to PFC and received a Maritorious Mast for his excellent work. Now he would like to go back into the Military...however RE-4 JFX would obviously make this very difficult. I feel like he proved himself to NOT be RE-4 meterial when the quality of his work greatly improved as soon as he was taken out of those terrible conditions...and he did NOT have a personality disorder, he was depressed because he could not trust anyone to not beat the crap out of him at any given time. Because of his case 4 marines were criminal prosecuted and there is now special training on hazing that marines have to go through. We have 1 letter from the Psychologist at our local Veterans Association saying that my husband never had a personality disorder (this psychologist worked with my husband while he was home on UA, so he knows the entire case).

Does anyone have any help or tips to offer so that my husband can get back into the Military? This is what he has always wanted.

If you would like to email me directly my email address is zamiller1110@gmail.com

Thanks! Ashley

Update:

He does not want to go back into USMC. He's looking at the Navy or Army. Prior enlistment seems difficult to begin with without all the extra baggage of bad re codes...so he'll take what he can get. He just wants to serve his country.

Update 2:

Wavygravydude: It's not about the beatings or the job. He has a good job right now...but he honestly feels a NEED to serve his country.

Update 3:

LCPL USMC: Bet all you like, I'm his wife. I was with him when he went through this, I have all the files etc. 3 LCPL were criminally charged because there was evidence to prove that my husband and his fellow marines who were also victims, were not exaggerating. Let's not be cynical. I asked for help and tips. If you don't have either of those...move along.

Prior service with RE 1 and no medical waivers can barely get back in.

If you have proof and evidence why not file an appeal for the RE code to be changed then. It will be a lengthy process and I highly doubt anything will come of it anyways.

The story does seem a bit far fetched.

Also you might want to take your email down. You might be getting some trolls email you.

I've never heard of anyone getting it changed. That's not to say it's impossible, but not likely. Without knowing the facts of your situation it's hard to say what could happen, but if you feel this was done in error, you can petition the Board For Correction of Naval Records (BCNR). It's merely filling out a DD149, submitting it to the Board (along with any supporting documentation) and waiting for the results, usually 3-6 months. You also have the right to appear in person to explain your case. Check the links below and it will guide you through the process. Again, it's rare for RE/separation codes to be changed, so I would caution against being too optimistic about it happening. I do want to clear up a couple of things. A congressperson has no authority to change a discharge, character of service, or separation code. You can contact your representative to explain your case & possibly get a letter of endorsement, but the Board will only consider the circumstances at the time of your discharge. As for filing a claim with the VA, you can do that if you believe your personality disorder was service-connected. However, you are not automatically entitled to a 30% rating. A VA doctor will examine you and they will determine what, if anything, disability percentage you're entitled to.

With the personality disorder diagnosis, you could pretty much kiss any chance of re-enlisting goodbye.

I am also willing to bet that a great deal of his story was exaggerated
