I have a Standardbred X Mare and an American Quarter Horse gelding.

Standardbred: I like the versatility of the breed a lot. My mare has done it all from endurance to jumping and a little low level dressage to barrel racing, working cattle and western pleasure (yeah, WP is definitely not her best class, but she can do it ok). Most Standardbreds that I've seen were very eager to please, which is a plus, but they tend to run a little hot tempered and ready to go. I don't mind that in a horse, but a lot of people have a problem with it. My mare is wickedly smart--almost too smart for her own good, and I've heard similar stories from other Standardbred owners. If I do something wrong when riding or working her she picks up on it instantly. Overall I love the breed, and would recommend it for anyone

American Quarter Horse: This is another versatile breed that I love. You can find quarter horses in just about any discipline. They're really great. Most of them are very level headed (though there are the few that are insane, just like every other breed). Of course, being a barrel racer I mostly like the explosive speed and turning ability that they have. They're generally really nice horses.

I cant say I have a favorite breed--I like all types of horses, and generalizing a single breed can be a bad habit. You're always going to have your 'bad apples' in a breed, and you're going to have the ones that go above and beyond what their breed is known to do.

As for a least favorite breed (I'm going to get a lot of thumbs down for this one), I'm not big on Paint horses (APHA). I suppose that its just my experience with them, but it seems like every paint horse that I've handled or heard about is either totally batsh*t crazy or has some weird little (dangerous) quirk that makes them a major pain. Some of them are really smart horses, and I know that they are versatile and basically from the same breeding as QHs, but they're just not my favorite. That doesn't mean that I stereotype every paint as being crazy though--if I ride a new horse that happens to be a paint I'm going to give it a chance, but I've never ridden a paint horse that didn't have that little, psycho personality quirk.

Well I hope I helped. Happy riding :)

My horse is an American Quarter Horse. I can't really say anything negative about this breed, I've always loved it.

I rode many arab crosses in the past, they were alright. They seemed to be rather spooky - more than most. Not saying I totally dislike arabs crosses, I just prefer a more sane horse.

My favorite breed has to be an appaloosa. My love for them started many years back when I started riding an appaloosa mare named Freckles. I then moved on to one named Rocky...rode him for years. I love this breed because for the most part they stand quietly, very willing, friendly, etc.

My horse is a thoroughbred. I like (this might just be her) that she is very adjustable. Normally she is forward, which is good, but I can make her go slow.

Before her, I had a National Show Horse (part arabian, part saddlebred). He was the best horse ever! He was maybe a little slow, but he would always try to please. I gave him to my trainer as a lesson horse, because I was getting too advanced for him, but I love him!

I don't really have a favorite breed, but if I would choose it would either be a thoroughbred or a National Show Horse.

I love love love quarter horses!! My boy is a quarter horse.

Likes: very reliable, trustworthy, fast, even tempered, go-with-the-flow attitudes, they come in big and small, very willing.

I prefer a good little stock/cow horse. So that's the kind of quarter horse i usually lean to. I'm not a huge fan of the overbred performance quarter horses.

Dislikes: they don't have a ton of endurance like my old arabian had, but it's ok! i still love them.

I had an arab in the past, he was a good barrel horse, great in fact, but he had a lot of issues. All he cared about was running. And i couldn't trust him, he was so unpredictable. But he was good at what he did, and he sure was pretty!

I actually don't have a horse :( But my favorite breed(s) Would probably be Quarter Horses, Paints, ThoroughBreds, Frisians, and..Morgans :)

Some breeds that I am learning to dislike are Appys. (Appaloosas) At one of the barns I volunteer at, there are two of them who are half brothers. I'm not sure if it was the Sire or Dam who had the bad temperament, or if its just because that breed is hotheaded. But both of them run on the lead rope, Bite, Kick, and Paw. One of them is a great school horse, but otherwise..I'm not really into that breed.

My mare is a TB. I like how she is taller, and not as wide and stocky as other horses. i also like how she is more forward. I don't like how some TB's are impossible to stop because of their training for the track. i also don't like how they are trained to ride at age 2 or under.

I have not owned any other breeds. My TB is my first horse.

I don't have a favorite breed, I think a lot depends on the horse itself, they are all different with their own personalities, like people.

I run barrels on a QH/Arab and I love her she is bimb proof I trust with anyone. I dont like that every now and then she does show some of that Arab attitude but it goes away pretty quickly.

Favorite breed-Mustang from the BLM once trained they are the smartest and most sure horses I've ever met!!!

well my loan horse is an irish cob

    like:

    he's cuddly

    gorgeous colour

    hard working

    honest

    surprisingly good all rounders

    dislike:

coping with all the feather in winter, he easily gets mud fever if it's not maintained.

they tend to have short legs in comparison to their bodies which can mean he has difficulty keeping up with bigger horses.

sweats up very easily and can be hard to cool down.

I had a shetland as a young kid, he was a bit of a one off in the breeding though because he was safe enough for me to go and see him unattended and ride him when I was 2 and he was 3.

    Generally though

    like:

they're very sweet to look at

lovely to have if properly handled

    hard working

very good weight carriers for their size.

    dislike:

if handled badly they can be little sh*ts

they can be very sharp, and are not often very good as child's ponies

their size means they have a limit to what they can do.

My favourite breed's a good welsh section D

    likes:

    good all rounders

    intelligent

not massively chunky, but not too slim line either

    hard working

don't tend to get too stressy but still good fun

    lovely comfy gaits

    very good looking horses

    dislikes:

a badly handled welsh cob uses their intelligence against you

My horse is an OTTB (off the track Thoroughbred)

I really like his personality and that he has lots of energy and an attitude that wants to please.

i don't like that he has his thoroughbred moments and throws his little tantrums that are so inconvenient lol

I have previously owned a perch/TB cross and I liked his build but he was a tad too lazy for me

I really like a hanoverian/TB cross they really are amazing horses and look very elegant.
