The FBI says that New Orleans had the highest murder rate of any large US city in 2008. Why?
The Federal government has been so very generous with New Orleans, handing out billions in free money.
And yet, far from being appreciative, the people of New Orleans choose to kill themselves and one another - at a higher rate than any other large city in ALL OF AMERICA!
With 179 murders in 2008 - for a population of only around 300,000 - New Orleans recorded a murder rate of somewhere between 57 per 100,000 people and 64 per 100,000 (depending on which population statistics you use).
This is ELEVEN POINT FOUR times higher than the national average of 5.6 per 100,000 - 11.4!!! Holy crap!
Folks, we are basically talking about third-world murder rates with New Orleans. New Orleans is a third-world city by that measure. It's not even close to being part of the first world.
Why? Why is this being allowed to happen?
Why is Republican governor Bobby Jindal of Louisiana letting this happen?
Why is Democrat mayor Ray Nagin letting this happen?
Why are the people of Louisiana letting this happen?
Why are the people of New Orleans letting this happen?
This is an American disaster, folks. How the heck can we solve it?

I don't know what are the conditions and cultures there. Like most things in this world murder rates are most affected by cultures. Those create the general type of responses people have to particular conditions existing at any particular time. I do know that generally Latino cultures in Mexico or the US have five times the murder rate of Anglos, and blacks in the Caribbean or the US have ten times the rate. Of course that is just a general statistic. Some Anglo cultures might have a higher homicide rate than some Latino or black cultures. I am from Calvinist Protestant Scots-Irish and German cultures in Pennsylvania and those seem to be more disciplined than the Scots-Irish and French cultures I saw in Louisiana when I lived there for a while.

is this the same city hampered by a hurricane, where the helpless dwellers all complained that bush hated them but LOVED to spend all that money that they claimed they needed on garbage instead of food and the necessities needed for their survival?
also...do liberals not want the world to know that detroit has a 24 percent graduation rate?

New Orleans has always been like this, people only started noticing because of Katrina.
I go there occasionally to goof around but I wouldn't ever live there

Because the majority of people in New Orleans have never held a job.
They just draw their Welfare, Hate Taxpayers, and Support the Democrat Party.
