Is a Cop required to tell you what charge you are being arrested for?

Is an officer required to tell you what the charge is if he declares you are under arrest?

Please only answer if you have first hand knowledge.

Update:

But I thought the Sixth Amendment guaranteed you the right to know the charges against you. Or is that only required at arraignment?

Not instantly. It might be a day or so before charges are signed. As long as he has probable cause to arrest, he doesn't have to tell you the charges.
