if you're serious, the chart says that less than a quarter of 1 percent of the US economy has been nationalized and that we are nowhere near socialism no matter what some people seem to think.

Nobody can explain how Socialism is economically sound, because it isn't. Someone could construct an elaborate argument for socialism, but that wouldn't be an explanation. It would be smoke and mirrors. To understand socialism, consider the socialist state a farm. The people, then, are the animals on the farm. But as Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot demonstrated, animals must be slaughtered in order for the farmer to eat meat.

I agree we aren't at socialism at the moment, but there are many that wish me were. The U.S. founding documents never said that we were in or would very get to a Utopia. They said our right was the pursuit of Happiness not the equal outcome of our ventures. The French revolution attempted that - it fed the guillotine very well.

By the way even in the Garden of Eden, man was required to work. Even there wasn't a Utopia of where one could do what ever one wanted. If there is a heaven, I doubt we will have anything better than a Garden of Eden.

It has its biases. What they do not mention is how government workers make an average of $59,000 a year while those in the private sector only make an average of $40,000 a year. On top of that, 40% of Americans do not even qualify for an income tax. Another thing this idiot fails to mention is that the largest facets of money right now (car manufacturers, banks, etc.) that employ a ton of workers are being controlled by the government. The government did give forced loans to the banks and in essence control them and as you know, they now are the majority owners in GM. Give me a chart with overall GDP controlled by the government and then we'll talk.

The chart says the Obama administration still has a long, long way to go.

  • That chart shows a huge slab of "socialism" compared to, say, the number of abortion doctors murdered in America, which is probably .00000001% or less.

That doesn't make any single murder any less wrong.

In each case, the number should be ZERO.

Yes. Every step, every move in that direction is a step toward socialism and is to be avoided.

Yours is the argument of someone trying to find any in, any way to get what they want. That's what they've been doing for the last several decades, trying to find a way in.

They've found it. We let them in. Now we have to remove them. We let these kind of arguments get to us, and we let them in the door.

    No more.

The thing is, it is showing the number of companies(I should say assets, sorry) and not the amount that they contribute to the economy.

Of course, if they are not that big a part of the economy(to big to fail)why did we have to bail them out?

Socialism includes police and fire protection, as well as public schooling, public libraries, and even such things as Medicare and Social Security.

We've had those things for years.
