Whatever happened to that Wikipedia movie?
It was supposed to be called "Truth in Numbers", and there were a whole bunch of YouTube videos about its making two years ago, but since then nothing.

Here's what I've heard:
The movie was mentioned in the 2007-08 Wikipedia fund drive video (the one that was publicly criticized because of co-founder Jimmy Wales wringing his hands and blinking his eyes in a distracting way). It was originally slated for release in Spring 2008, and it would appear from the various YouTube updates ( http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search... ) to have finished principal photography in mid-2007. The Wikipedia article now claims it is still in post-production and that "The film will be released in time for 2009 film festival submissions." However, it would appear to have missed the deadlines for all of the major festivals, except for the Venice Biennale, which is underway now.
The film has a page on a Wikia, Inc. server ( http://wikidocumentary.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page ), which has not been edited since October 2007. It would appear from the top of the page that Wikia is raising funds for the film, although it is the Wikimedia Foundation, not the "completely separate" Wikia, Inc. that gets the co-producer credit on the IMDb page ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0960864/companycredits ). One wonders if that special Wikia magic that halos other projects like OpenServing.com, Wikiasari, and the SpankingArt Wikia, has likewise doomed this project?

The YouTube user is still logging in, but his videos are all two years old. I suspect he has abandoned the project, most likely due to lack of funding.
