What options do I have?

I am currently a student at UF and I am about to get kicked out for having too low of a GPA. My parents, my main line of support, can't get it through there heads that I simply cannot stand working myself to exhaustion only to get inferior grades over and over again. I really don't want to move to another city ( if you combine both parents I have moved over 25 times) and I just don't know what to do. I would join the military but don't want to go in as enlisted. Help please!

Update:

It's too late. I took classes this summer to try and raise them and no matter how hard I try I can't get the A's and B's I need. Once I get less than a B in both classes I am taking right now it's pretty much set in stone that I am out.

Update 2:

Thanks mjennin...that was a really good answer. I will probably end up at the local community college for a few years and see if I can transfer back here. Looks that way at least.

This is a tough one. Why are your grades low? Are you partying too much? Are you working too much? Are you just the type who isn't "good" at school? School isn't cut out for everyone. Our parents and society has ingrained the thought into our heads that if we don't go to college, we are failures. This just simply isn't true. There are plenty of professions out in the world that are absolutely necessary and simply do NOT require higher education. Many people who started their own companies (that are terrifically famous now) with nothing more than a few dollars, a lot of hope, and a lot of passion...no education required.

You have a variety of options. You can drop out of University adn go to a community college...perhaps school isn't pumping you up cuz you don't know what you want to do yet? Community (or Junior) Colelges take a lot of pressure off your back in terms of "sticking to the plan" and they are cheap too. I did four years at a Junior College and changed my major 8 times before I figured out what I wanted to do...I also got the chance to work and mature a little bit, and then I transfered to a great unviersity and ended up geting 3 degrees in just 2 years. If "college" isn't your thing, but you still want to go to school, consider trade schools -- become a dental assistant, a nurse, an xray technician, a mechanic, a personal trainer, a teacher's assistant....something that you don't need to take all of those hum-drum college classes for to get the necessary skills/certifications you need to have a very rewarding career. Or you can just enter the work force with your high school diploma....however, your salary options will alsways be stiffled as you get older. You can be a secretary/receptionist, etc.

You could do the military, but that needs to be your PASSION. We are talking life and death here, not to mention you will have no freedom to go out with friends and enjoy life, etc. You could do the Army Reserves or what is that group...the National Guard or something?? But I don't think you get paid unless you are active. Perhaps consider the police academy instead? Or being a Paramedic?

In this economy, it is not really a good idea to drop out of school because no one is hiring...so it's best that you just stick with education because at least you are advancing yourself in life. You could always shift down to only gonig to school part time, if that eases your load and also allows you to work more or something.

Hope that helps. Sorry for spelling errors, I'm not going back to reread this haha :)
