Child's Social Security Benefits do to a Parent's Death?
I know that a child under 18 can receive Soc. Sec. benefits based upon a deceased parents work record.
If the surviving parent works, does their wage affect how much the the child receives from Soc. Sec.?

no, the child is still entitled to benefits, and so is the wife as long as she is caring for the minor child. You should get a statement in the mail yearly that states the amount (approximate) that would be granted to for each family situation. It is a set amount, has nothing to do with the current income of the spouse.
If the deceased leaves behind one spouse and one minor child, both are entitled to benefits until the child is 18.
