Regarding appeals and anyway to go about getting a proper response?

I had a question that was recently deleted after a best answer has been chosen and everything. The question itself was regarding a touchy subject, but as far as I can remember, I never went beyond the guidelines and violated anything. Because I couldn't look at the question and answers again, I asked specifically what I did wrong. Instead I got some pre-written statement sayind that I "indeed" violated the guidelines.

So how the heck am i supposed to know what I wrote so that I won't do it again? Is there someone higher I can go to?

It will take a little detective work, but it is possible.

Google your question, if you can remember it - important to use the exact phrasing that you used. If you have not asked a lot of questions, you can Google your user name and this will work, too.

Google has a "cache" of pages that no longer exist, and you will be able to see the question and answers.

You can copy and paste the question here, in a question saying, "What is wrong with this?" and hope that someone answers, you can research the community guidelines by clicking on that link at the bottom of the page, or you can post to the Suggestion Board by clicking on "Help us improve Yahoo! Answers. Tell us what you think." at the bottom of the page asking what the violation is.

I think it is a shame that people have no idea what they did wrong. Yahoo! is really missing on a teachable moment - what is to prevent you from making the same mistake if you honestly do not know what that mistake was?

I always save my e-mails on something like this. There usually is the question in question on the e-mail, or there was when I was notified my answer was a violation. So I've learned to save them so i could go back and double check. Once something is resolved, but deleted, its gone. It's weird that someone complained, or two people, actually, after it was picked as best answer.

I got the same response after one of my answers. I don't think it is someone who handles the matter, more like an automated response. Really no way around it.
