Black soldiers and nightvision in WW2?
So I can't remember where I heard it but some guy said black soldiers during WW2 were not allowed to fire guns or join the regular US troops and could only be cooks in the navy because they had bad night vision.
Was this just an additional excuse to exclude black men from fighting for their country because of the racism or whatever or is this in any way true?

There certainly were. I don't know how many got into combat, but they were pretty well the drivers in what is called the Red Ball Express. The Tuskegee Airmen are a great thing to study, all black, fliers. They were generally thought not to have the mettle to fight in a war and the services were not totally integrated until the Truman Administration. I had a friend who was a Master Sgt in the Signal Corps who got closer to battle than a lot of other soldiers.

well at first they didn't let them join
but then they didn't have enough blood donors for the medics so they started to get blood from the blacks
so then they realized hey these guys could help to fight
but they dint make them full soldiers
they had black groups like buffalo team and stuff like
that they had them do all the hard things like invading and just putting their life on the line just cause they were black

Just an excuse.

It was probably an excuse by black soldiers to avoid combat. Today they use ingrown facial hair, etc.
