I have owned 2 subaru's. One was a legacy GT wagon(wifes car) and I owned a 2002 Impreza WRX. Her car was an automatic and my WRX was a manual. I had my WRX for 4 years and never had any problems with it. It was the safest car I ever owned. Being a turbocharged car the performance was far superior to a naturally asperated impreza. If you plan to get a WRX or a regulat impreza you are garunteed to be getting one of the best cars on the street for safety, controll , and owner satisfaction. The only negative thing that I heard was that the 5 speed on the 02 WRX's was considered a glassbox(could break easy) if you heaveiy modified the car for more hp. This is due to the car being AWD and if you dropped the clutch like you could a RWD or FWD car when the WRX was heavily modified you could damage/break some gear teeth. Other than that this is a very good car. If you are getting it for a daily driver you WILL have no problems at all with it. You can't beat getting a car from one of the top 3 auto makersin the US (Honda,Subaru, Toyota).
