    Yes, it's free. Your Wii has to be connected to the Internet. Go to support.nintendo.com for information on how to do this if it's not.

    Now, on your TV once the Wii is powered on, click on the wrench that says "Settings" on the lower left part of the home screen. Don't click on "Data Management," click on the other one: "Options."

    Look through the selections until you see "Wii System Update." Bingo. Just click and it will update for you.

    Wii Version 4.0 makes the Wii compatible with SD cards above 2.0GB. It also provides an SD menu along with the Channel menu and lets you run games purchased from the Wii Shop Channel directly off of the SD card memory.

    It's free. All you need is an internet connected Wii.

    Then go into system settings and find "Wii Update", select it and let it run (it will take about 15-20 min to download and install).
