If the President doesn't want torture?

of gitmo detainees, then why won't he do something about the torture by taser of American citizens by the police?

There have been over 30 deaths of American citizens by taser. Some of them for minor traffic violations.

Not one gitmo prisoner died from torture.

Update:

Are some of you saying it's okay for the police to SHOOT people for traffic violations? I would call that excessive force.

The taser should be used for EXTREME cases. This habit of using it for talking back to a cop or for not getting down on the ground quick enough is abuse.

Tasering someone already on the ground and handcuffed is abuse of power.

If the president doesn't want torture, why did he pick Hillary as secretary of state?

Almost 100 pepole have died in custody under the torture from CIA and CIA contractors in black sites around the world. And even if your assertion was correct, torture is still an international crime.

Even the United Staes has signed the 1984 UN Convention Against Torture.

I agree about looking into the use and abuses of tasers but these are two separate things.

i get your point but the people who get taser by the cops is it possible that they are not getting a far worse treatment like a bullet? and the police do not go around tasering people they only use it as needed. the criminals are usually fighting the police and it is either use the taser or use a bullet either one is a poor choice but the criminal is not going down cooperatively and is resisting arrest.

How do we know she is from the right? As for tasering, if people just do as they are told and not resist police, then they don't have to worry about a taser, do they?

The difference is that police use a taser to subdue people before they are in custody. They don't taser you after you're already in jail.

Torture occurs after the people are already in custody.

the first answer is the classic false alternative logical fallacy, she assumes that shooting is the only other option besides tasering which there are many more methods safer in the hands of the police, the problem is not the taser but the police who abuse the taser, they taser people way too many times thus resulting in death

Would you prefer the police go back to just shooting you? I can guarantee tasers are far more recoverable than led poisoning.

Torture is illegal. Using a taser to subdue a suspect isn't classified as torture anymore than SHOOTING a suspect would be considered torture.

Another failed analogy from the Right.
