Does a VW beetle need synthetic oil?

I had some synthetic put in my last oil change and it ran beautifully. My last oil change i forgot to request it and they put in regular oil. I notice its not running as smooth. Will regular oil mess up my engine?

Should not be a problem. Are you referring to the new or the old beetle?

If new Beetle, I would suggest you read the posts on this page
