Are you grateful for what you have got?
assalamu' alaikum
Ive an exam tomorrow and i'm supposed to be studying. but I thought i'd share this w/ everyone. I was studying about skin diseases and stumbled upon 'epidermolysis bullosa (EB)'. It's a rare genetic skin disorder. I was reading it up and fell at a complete loss of words. subhanAllah. most of us take our blessings for granted. we complain and whine for the rest of our lives. imagine having skin that falls of everytime you try to touch or rub it. imagine having to wear gauze all over your body for the rest of your life. imagine having a kid suffering from EB. imagine not being able to hug or cuddle your child b/c if you do that the kid's skin is gonna burst up. imagine hearing your doctor say how soon your kid is gonna die and suffer thru out....which sounds worse? that you have a dark complexion, or you just popped up a pimple? we complain about our lives and wallow in self pity. we forget to look at the things we have and others dont. remember, there are people who have it worse than us. think about it.
"And if you were to count the blessings of Allah, you will never be able to count them -Sûrah an-Nahl (16:72)

If you want to do an interesting experiment start talking about routine household chores: washing dishes, cleaning the house, shopping, etc. And see how long it takes and ,who complains, for example about "hating" to wash dishes. If we think about it, washing dishes without complaining shows that we are thankful for the food we ate. Many people in the world do not have enough food to eat or have little variety and are malnourished. And complaining about cleaning the dishes and kitchen shows ungratefulness.

As i said in a previous question..
Most humans including me are selfish and will NEVER be completely satisfied or grateful with everything we have. We may be grateful for a few things but deep down we know that there is something we are not grateful and satisfied about-No matter how big the reason is for the unsatisfaction.
All we can do is pray and have hope and wish that the ungreatfulness decreases day by day.

I am always grateful and satisfy for what Allah blessed me with. Alhamdulillah. We cannot really count how many blessings he has bestowed upon us. Truly he is the most merciful and giving. I am grateful for the air i breath, for the food i eat, for the water i drink, for the creations that he has created for us, for everything...

I am grateful. Sometimes I complain or stress out about things but in the end I know I am lucky.

You have brought back memories that I thought were once tucked away forgotten forever. Even the smell that lingers in that old barn is so sensuous to my senses. I can smell the chain oil as it heats from the churning blade... I once, felled a 40 foot tree, true...WOW! memories. Thank you for the memories...I certainly did need them today. ♥
