Intel GMA x4500 is a video card that comes attached to the motherboard of your computer (therefore it is called an onboard or integrated video card). It is responsible for outputting picture to your computer screen. It also processes pictures and videos etc when you play DVDs on your computer, make a home movie using Movie Maker or edit pictures using Microsoft Paint or Photoshop, etc.

How good it is is difficult to say as just like anything else that is computer related, there's a wide range of graphics card performance. But I have to say it is the 2nd best Intel 'onboard' video card available right now, but its performance cannot compete with what even low-end discrete video cards (discrete means a card that is inserted into a PCIe x16 slot) can do.

GMA x4500 is more than enough for most computer use including Microsoft Office, Skype, Messenger, iTunes, playing DVDs, installing a TV tuner and watching TV on your computer. However, it'll put a lot of burden on your processor if you watch Blu-ray DVDs. If your computer has a blu-ray drive or you are considering to get one, or if you like editing pictures / videos, I recommend at least GMA x4500HD or a better option is to get a low-end (less than 100 dollars) but discrete ATI Radeon or nVidia video card . I would definitely get a nice PCIe x16 video card if I were using the computer for gaming or HD resolution video editing. You can of course a buy a computer that has GMA x4500 or x4500HD and then add a PCIe x16 video card later if you are not sure how the integrated card does.

It's not good, no chipset is. I suggest spending another $100 on a real graphics card.

Although I dont believe in integrated graphics, I'd give it a C for adequate. That however depends on what you are using it for.
