what automatic trans is behind the 7.3 turbo diesel in a '91 F-250 pickup 2wd...is it an aod, a c-6 or something different?
thank you, but i know what aod stands for...i'm asking if thats the trans that comes/came behind a '91 f-250 with a 7.3 turbo diesel, or if it was a C-6 or something else.
ok, that makes sense. the guy is advertising it on craigslist as a 7.3 but says the tranny is bad...its 200 miles away, thats y i was asking what tranny but an aode makes sense.

Ford went to the 7.3l with 88 model year. Just ask the guy how many bolts the transmission pan has 17 bolts=c6 and 20 bolts=AOD. Those should be the only two choices for an automatic.

I don't think the 91 came with the 7.3 I think its a 6.9 and I beleive its a AODE. Look under it sometime they will say on the pan or there's a tag on the side.

Well my friend AOD stands for Automatic Overdrive so when your on the inter-state the trani automatically kicks in the Overdrive so you don't have to press buttons or switches, they started that in the mid 80's.
