should i be consuming protein shakes if i want to lose weight?

at first when i started working out, i just wanted to build muscle. I had assumed that the slight body fat i had would burn off its self in time. however that hasn't been the case with my chest and i want to lose fat around there. do i stop consuming my protein shakes after my workout?

God where do people get information.

Moderate-High intensity weight lifting burns more calories than a single cardio session OVERALL. Weightlifting increases oxygen consumption for a period of 36-48 hours after your session, the key component in calorie burning. And the majority of these are fat calories. You were right about the high intensity interval training, to be done after your weightlifting after your carb and glycogen stores are depleted. This makes your body utilize fat much more.

Protein shakes (100% Whey, Casein, Soy etc.) do not make you gain fat, unless you are completely sedentary. It merely helps you hit the daily protein quota you should be getting everyday if you are working out. One thing you should consider is finding a gym or health club that takes body fat measurements instead of tracking your progress with a scale. This will tell you if you are burning fat and packing on muscle instead of just an arbitrary number.

I don't really understand your question because it says you're working out but want to lose weight which a lot of people get wrong; working out (strength training) builds weight and muscle, because muscle weighs more than fat.

But to address the question of fat around your chest, I think it's more of an issue about how intense you're training. If you are working out hard enough then the protein shakes will help build muscle but if you're not working it out enough, then the protein will store itself elsewhere or turn into fat.

What protein shakes are you drinking. Many can be benifitial. but if your drinking just the milk+powder thats bad and will definitly keep you fat. not even built.

If your drining the ones with tons of fruit, and some powder than keep drinking they are benificial and will turn some of your bad fats into muscle and will not make you lose weight but give you a nicer looking body.

(low calorie) this way purely sufficient protein is getting used to recuperate your muscle mass and not take anymore to storing polypeptide or carbohydrate bonds on your physique, it relatively is fat that would properly be used for storage in direction of development muscle. So a low calorie protein will help your muscle mass, yet will additionally help in making particular your no longer gaining extra fat. in case you keep the protein you're using precise now, it supply you extra fat, meaning you have gotten extra of a conflict to decrease weight, which then skill you will would desire to do extra cardio than what you already do. Etiher way in case you sustain what you're doing you would be fit, so as that shouldnt be a difficulty,
