looking to expand. Person with the most bands I don't know gets best answer..

Update:

I must say, i'm extremely impressed with this. Only four answers were full of stuff I'd already heard of, and at least two of those people were trying.

Trying to stay within the spirit of the question I'll stick with stuff that you can find in the iTunes store or on amazon or something like that. There are some local things that you won't be able to find anyways. Just to get some names there I'll list a couple of those:

    Wartime President

    7 Live Cobras

    b0n0tr0n

    JC and the Illegitimate Kids

    Skinny Legs and All

    Decorative Edison

    Hitherto Bastardwing (totally good band)

Phooey (a real shame about those guys, they were totally good only had an album and an ep on vinyl)

anyways, onto the spirit of the question...

    Eric Volcano

    Franklin For Short

    the Spires

    the Elusive Parallelograms

Jeff Grimes and the Broken Strings

    Polvo

    the Pope

the Rattlesnakes (the ones from Corona, CA)

    Sam Prekop

    the Starlight Mints

Tall Tales and the Silver Lining

    Tapes N Tapes

    the Teeth

    the Tyde

    ************

    Maybe...

    Godheadsilo

    Karp

the Tight Bros From Way Back When

    Miracle Chosuke

    Beachwood Sparks

    Crispin Hellion Glover

Before "The Four Seasons" was "The Squirrels." That's from where Frankie Valli, et al got their "sound." Easy to cop music back then from a small, unorganized group.
