how do you open windows explorer search?

search isn't in my menu, is there something i can type to open it from command promt.

    In Windows Explorer, press Ctrl-F.

    I don't think there's any command line option. In Windows Explorer in XP I think you can right click on a folder and choose Search or Find, in Vista there's a Search box in the top right of Windows Explorer.

    If you mean the file handling program, hold down the Windows key (bottom left of keyboard) and press E.
